Game Overview
There is no denying that Geometry Wars has caused somewhat of a stir within the mini game world of gaming. We were hooked on it for ages when Project Gotham 3 was released and again on the Live Arcade, we just couldn't get enough of it. But for it now to be released on the most popular games consoles around it's strange to think that 2 years ago it was nothing but a bit of fun on the side. Sierra must be wetting themselves with this one!
The game itself is fairly basic but one of those games that you play once and then find yourself still playing 3 or 4 hours later with bloodshot eyes and dieing for a wee! We lost count how many times we said the phrase "Just one more".
You are required to move around the screen and blow up geometric shapes coming towards you. Nothing fancy, no amazing graphics although on the Live Arcade version in HD the explosions look quality! The further you get through the game the faster these geometric shapes come towards you and you'll have to be lightening quick to destroy them all and keep yourself from dieing!
We know what you are wondering, how does it control with the Wii remote system. Well, there are two ways, you can either control your movement with the Nunchuck analogue stick and fire by pointing the Wii remote where you want to fire or you can actually use the classic controller, although it is highly unlikely you'll have a classic controller if you haven't picked up any of the Classic games in the online shop.
There is a multiplayer option on the game which makes for some frantic battles however this is restricted to split screen only and doesn't have an online option which is a bit of a let down.

Our Conclusions
With extra galaxies available to unlock, Geometry Wars is a little more extensive than the original Arcade version available on the Xbox 360 Live Arcade. In comparison the Wii version is a lot more in depth but to us doesn't quite look as good. It is however great fun to play and highly addictive. It's also available on the DS which we have a review on as well however if you are tossing up between the two go for the Wii version.
Overall Score: 7.5/10
