Game Overview
The basic concept to the game is simple, answer questions. Brain stimulation at its finest! How fun can that be? We hear you ask. Well, not that fun at all on your own, the solo mode gets very tedious very quickly. You aren't able to use your own Mii, records aren't saved and overall it's very lackluster in the single player department. Multiplayer on the other hand is a completely different kettle of fish.
Multiplayer allows you to work together as a team or compete against each other. We'll start with the "Family" mode which has you all working together. Firstly you set the amount of questions you'll need to answer in order to "Win", then you'll take it in turns to answer a question against a timer, once you reach the set amount of correct answers you win. Make sense? Whilst one of you is answering a multiple choice question one of the other people on your team will be required to Shake, Jump, Wave or even Dance in order to slow down the timer resulting in people looking like complete plonkers! It feels a little tacked on at times but does add a bit of enjoyment to an essentially boring game.
The Family mode is probably our most favorite mode in the game, there is also a "Friends" mode which puts you up against each other in a battle to the bloody end......or not! When it is your turn you are required to spin a wheel, hold down 'A' and rotate the Wiimote, let go of 'A' and the wheel spins. You can then nudge up to 10 times to try and get the wheel to land on a topic you think you may have a better chance of answering. Once this is complete you then need to compete with each other (kind of) and shoot some chickens with points on them to decide the wager placed on this particular topic. This, to be honest, is completely pointless, it would be better to just have a set amount of points awarded per question. Anyway, then you'll have 3 questions to which, if you know the answer you'll flick the Wiimote up to buzz in and answer.
Once you have buzzed in 4 possible answers show up, we though this was kind of strange due to the fact that you would only buzz in if you knew the answer so shouldn't the 4 possible answers be shown to you before buzzing in? The game then continues over 5 rounds and the winner is the one with the most points. There is also a dance off and a tug of war which are like bonus rounds where you are able to increase your score but really they are just there to try and liven the game up, unfortunately they don't do a great job.
There are also cards that can be played throughout the multiplayer game that will do things like switching the topic, however these only really come into play when playing with a few people, they do make the game that extra bit competitive but also one of those things that is just forgotten about as you aim to answer your question correctly in the allotted time.

Our Conclusions
That's pretty much it for Smarty Pants, the idea behind the game is just like any other "quiz" game that has been released. It's good fun to play when you are with mates and you can really tell it is geared towards multiplayer. With 20,000 questions they shouldn't repeat to often although we did get a couple of repetitions within half an hour of gameplay, they are right up to date and some of them are quite challenging. Great game for Christmas Day when you have the family round as it is suitable for all ages but we don't think you'll touch it again until the following Christmas.
Overall Score: 6.5/10
