Game Overview
Anyone ever played Metal Gear Solid? Like it? Well you will definitely get along with Aurora Watching, we are NOT saying that this is better than any of the MGS series but it runs along the same lines.
OK, next question, have you seen Independence Day the film? Bit unrealistic how they got a alcoholic war veteran who hasn't flown a proper plane since the war to jump in to a modern fighter plane and out fly the aliens and then eventually destroy the mother ship! Hope you got all of that! Well Aurora Watching is very similar, albeit without planes and aliens, basically you are a miserable drunk that is yanked out of retirement to go to the Arctic and sort out a terrorist situation. We would have stuck with the alcohol!
Aurora Watching is supposed to be about stealth but it's about as stealthy as a team of rugby players after 50 pints! You don't open the doors quietly, it sometimes sounds like you have metal boots on, and the size of some of the guns you carry would just be in possible to hide from anyone!
We really are struggling to find anything positive about Aurora Watching, to be honest it is a bit pants, the back of the box looked absolutely fantastic, graphics looked pretty good (which, now we think about it are ok, nothing amazing, just ok) but that is about it. The sounds are not to bad, it has some excellent mood setting music but unfortunately it stops with that, the speech of the characters leaves an awful lot to be desired. The game is slow, a little bit tedious, stupidly funny in places (because of how pants some of the scenes are) and really just sits quietly in the shadow of Metal Gear Solid and doesn't even come close to challenging for the Stealth title.

Our Conclusions
Should only be played by people who a) love gadget games i.e. 007 and b) love playing stealth games, you may be able to find more enjoyment out of it than we have, at £19.99 (bet we can find it cheaper) its what some people would call a bargain, for us we would stay well away.
Overall Score: 3/10
Thanks to Bastion for sending in Aurora Watching for review.
