Painkiller Black Edition by Dreamcatcher
Painkiller is available at all decent games stores now, there is also an expansion called "Battle out of Hell" which you can buy at the moment, so "what's black edition?" we hear you say, its both great games on one disk! All the blood and guts you could ever want on one disk! Nice One!!

Game Overview
If you havent played Painkiller before then you are in for a treat! It's a non stop, first person massacre! And the great news is that now they are releasing both games on one disk you get an awful lot of outrageously wierd weapons and guns and living dead enemies.

The game doesnt really follow much of a stoyline (or not as far as we could see) untill right at the end in the end sequence but dont let that put you off the game, its great fun walking around graveyards and blowing away sword bearing dead people!

It reminded us a lot of Doom, following a very similar route but to us it has a little bit more of an eerie feeling to it, maybe it was just us, but hearing screams from ladies in a graveyard where it is pitch black was a little bit freaky! Had to keep reminding ourselves it was a computer game, but on that note it did draw us in and had us fixed to the monitor for ages, which is something you really want a game to do!

You start of Painkiller in a graveyard where you pick up a gun, just to let you know it didn't really do much for us and we found it a lot more enjoyable rampaging through the army of dead people with what we called the "Spinny Spikey Thingy", chops them up a treat! We played most of the first couple of levels with the "spinny spikey thingy" because it was such a cool weapon but it does make a really annoying noise, however, it did drown out the spine chilling screams in the background!

Bonus's are available in the game but in order to unlock them you need to collect black tarot cards, to gain black tarot cards you need to complete tasks such as killing all the monsters in the level or collecting their souls once they are dead, you get the idea! The bonus' are wicked so make sure you give it your all!

Our Conclusions
The expansion we found was the same game but with less enemies and smaller levels but it was still just as fun playing, fun probably isn't the right word to use as Painkiller is a little scary and earns it really earns an 18 certificate within the first few minutes of gameplay, however, it is only 16+. Great graphics, nice sounds and great gameplay make for a great first person shooter!

Overall Score: 7.5/10
