Game Overview
The first thing we noticed and had to tell you about is the graphics, since everything is on the screen is in Lego bricks! Ok so people who played the first LEGO Star Wars won't be surprised but to us we were pleasantly surprised, something a little different is always good once in a while! Graphically, the game is nothing special, but let’s be honest, how good can Lego bricks look? Some of the backdrops throughout the game look very poor indeed and shouldn't be worthy of being associated with next-gen gaming, they look like something you’d expect from early 90’s at times, however the character graphics do look pretty sharp in High Def
Something that will wind every single person up about this game is the camera angles; they remind us a lot of Resident Evil and not being able to rotate the camera sucks! It's a common complaint from what we have read that people have been walking past unlockables and falling off of edges that just simply couldn't be seen because of the stupid camera angles! Should a new LEGO Star Wars be released this is definitely something that needs to be addressed, would be really good if it was made free roaming!
However awful the camera angles are the game is still playable and very enjoyable. Using muffled voices and sounds instead of voiceovers LEGO Star Wars will have you in fits of laughter from start to finish, the humour in the game is nothing like we have experienced, there are many levels to the humour so it will appeal to people of all ages, so if you want to buy a game for your kid but want to enjoy it yourself this is definitely the game to get.
LEGO Star Wars couldn't get any easier to control and is probably one of the best pick up and play games we have come across in a very long time, the gameplay is simple consisting of the main platformer characteristics shooting, collecting and working your way to the end of the level which unlike many platformers isn't always as easy as you first think (mainly due to the camera angles missing a path you should have taken).
Just like the movie itself there are several different characters, and you are required to swap characters throughout the game to access certain panels and help you to advance through the game. The whole time you are running about levels you are accompanied by one of the most stupidest "partners" in any game we have ever seen, obviously working on the AI was not high on the agenda as your "team mate" will quite often fall down holes, stand in your line of fire or even stand directly in front of an enemy without firing a single shot, they do re-spawn but it is a bit of a pain in the backside.

Our Conclusions
LEGO Star Wars II The Original Trilogy has to go down as one of the best Star Wars games ever made, its very funny and very enjoyable, which, at the end of the day, is what you want out of a game like this. There are a few design problems in the game which do get a little annoying but don’t let them put you of this top class game! A must have for all 360 owners! In fact, it's so enjoyable that one of the lads in the office who has never seen a Star Wars film is addicted to it!
Overall Score: 8/10
Massive thanks to Activision.
